Convention registration opens at 1 p.m. Thursday at the back of the trade show in Exhibit Hall B. Advisers can come check in their entire group at that time. The registration desk is open until 7 p.m. Thursday.

SIGN UP FOR PRECONVENTION WORKSHOPS
It’s your lucky day! There are still seats available in many preconvention workshops. (Statehouse Reporting is full.)
If you or your students are interested in joining a preconvention workshop on Thursday, plan to arrive at the workshop room at least 20 minutes before the start time and find a convention staff member to get registered onsite.
Full-day workshops are $70, half-days are $50. Some workshops have recommended and required materials — please reference the webpage to see what’s required for your intended workshop.

OPENING CEREMONY & KEYNOTE
Kick off your convention experience with the NHSJC keynote speakers Jon Bream of the Minnesota Star Tribune! He is the longest tenured music critic at a U.S. daily newspaper. Bream will share tips he’s learned while attending 10,000 concerts, writing reviews on deadline and conducting interviews with legends like Taylor Swift, Bob Dylan and Prince.
DEI CERTIFICATE TRACK
If diversity, equity and inclusion are a priority for you and your publications staff, this is for you! Convention attendees can earn JEA’s DEI Certificate by attending four of the 11 designated DEI strand sessions.
SPECIAL STRAND: CIVIL UNREST, SOCIAL CHANGE IN MINNESOTA
The Minneapolis local convention committee is partnering with the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism to present a special strand of sessions designed to provide professional insight into navigating sensitive, high-stakes breaking news, with a focus on student-led reporting.

Hotel information
All convention events will take place at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Below are the officially designated hotel options.
All hotel room blocks will open to registered attendees noon CST Feb. 3. If you register before that date, you will receive an email with the booking links at that time. If you register after, the booking links will be automatically sent once your registration is complete. Please register and book early, as rooms often sell out quickly. The convention team will arrange overflow options as needed.
Please note that all but the Hilton Garden Inn are connected to the convention center through the Minneapolis Skyway. The Hilton Garden Inn is a 5-minute, street-level walk to the convention center. Prices below include all fees and taxes.
