JEA contest judging
Help judge, moderate or assist with JEA National Student Media Contests. No experience necessary.
NSMC has lots of fun, rewarding volunteer opportunities available, depending on your availability!
Most on-site National Student Media Contests compete from 4-6 p.m. Friday, with some broadcast contests taking place earlier in the day. Judging occurs from 6-9 p.m. Friday, with dinner included. Entries for online contest categories are submitted in advance and judged in the weeks leading up to the event.
The JEA National Journalism Quiz Bowl qualifying test takes place at 8 a.m. Friday with scoring to follow. The live finals take place from 8-10 a.m. Saturday. Some volunteer support is needed for this event.

NSPA on-site critiques
If you are an experienced adviser, you can help with on-site critiques. You’ll receive copies of a newspaper, yearbook, magazine or video at the convention and meet with the staff of the publication to provide constructive criticism of its work.
> To help with critiques, email critiques@studentpress.org.
Session speakers
Our conventions typically offer around 300-400 breakout sessions.
Teachers, advisers, media professionals and students in editorial leadership positions are invited to submit a session proposal for the spring convention. Please note that presenting a session at NHSJC is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
Session proposals are due by Jan. 30. Please submit promptly.
If you have any questions about getting involved at the spring convention, contact JEA Events and Programs Manager Amber James.
