JEA National Journalism Quiz Bowl

Are you ready to test your staff’s skills and knowledge against teams from across the country? 

The quiz bowl-style competition and qualifying exam will include questions related to the following categories:

Journalism: News judgment
Journalism: Newsgathering and research
Journalism: Newsgathering and interviewing
Press law and ethics
Journalism terms
Journalism and American history
Photography
Broadcast
AP Style and editing
Journalism design
Current Events

Students compete in teams of four.

Registration cost is $50/team. Schools may have more than one team.

Quiz Bowl registration is available as part of our primary online registration through Cvent. Registration may be possible after online registration closes, if there are spots available. Please contact Mary Prichard for more info.

Quiz Bowl teams will first take a qualifying written test at the convention on Friday morning. Each team of four will take one test together on one computer. Each team is responsible for bringing one computer/laptop/Chromebook (no iPads/tablets) to take the test on.

The test scores will be used to seed the top teams that will compete in the live buzzer rounds on Saturday morning.

Spring 2026 Quiz Bowl schedule:

8 a.m. Friday — Qualifying online test

8-10 a.m. Saturday — Live buzzer rounds
