Student scholarships
JEA and NSPA will provide up to 50 need-based registration scholarships for students interested in attending the convention. Scholarship recipients will receive free registration to the convention.
Priority will be given to students from underrepresented groups and low-income students. To apply, students must complete the online application form and explain in the space provided why they want to attend the convention and how the scholarship would help them. Attach a letter of recommendation from the school media adviser or other school administrator addressing the student’s interest in journalism and the student’s financial need.
Please note that this scholarship does not cover travel/hotel expenses or convention extras, only main event registration. For this reason, local and regional students are especially encouraged to apply.
EXTENDED DEADLINE: Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. CST March 11.
Selected recipients will be notified by March 13. Anyone who is not selected and notified by that date is encouraged to take advantage of early bird pricing by registering before 5 p.m. CST March 16.
